Carex

Carex

Demand for Carex in Europe has grown explosively in recent years. Because Carex is attractive in the summer and winter, and it requires little maintenance, it is widely planted in public and private gardens. In response to this demand, we produce some 1 million plants per annum in 84 cell trays. In addition, we continue to sell large quantities of Carex as bare root plants.

The timing for taking Carex cuttings is very important; moisture and temperature influence the ultimate plant quality. At JAC Cuttings, all Carex is cultivated in a separate zone in the greenhouse, so that the conditions can be closely controlled by the climate computer.

Of course, there are very many Carex varieties. In addition to the well-known popular varieties, we also endeavour to supply a wider product range which includes some of the less familiar varieties. In addition to the well-known Morrowii varieties such as Ice Dance and Variegata we have also Goldbanded in large numbers. In 2010, we were one of the first nurseries with fol. Irish Green in the product range. Since then, we have seen demand increase for this variety with its wonderful dark leaves and rapid growth. Currently, we grow 100,000 Irish Green plants annually.
We also grow a large number of osh. Evergold and a range of Comans varieties.
